A few main points about Norway at this time. Let me know if there is anything that I forgot to include. (Or if there is anything that is incorrect. I enjoy reading about this time period, but I am not an expert on 17th-century Scandinavia.)

Time period & Age

17th century. Specifically 1650s. If I had to pin down a year, it would be 1658, because that is the year that the March across the Belts strip takes place. The Raising taxes strip probably takes place around that time too. In terms of visual age, I see Norway as about 18-ish at this time.

Appearance and physical condition

At this point in time he's very thin, even bony, edging on too much; he isn't as healthy or as strong as his modern self. His economy is suffering due to the war, and the war itself has had an effect on him as well. That kind of thing just plain isn't good for his health. As a result of all this, he's weak and a tad unwell, but he tries to put up a good front because he can't stand having others know that he isn't at his best, even if he can't hide it as well as he would like. He takes care of himself; always makes sure that his hair is neat. In spite of his less-than-stellar health, he's still pretty attractive, and he knows it.

Personality

He isn't as at ease as his modern self, nor as secure. He's aware that he's in an unsafe position. Having to share his borders with a hostile neighbour (Sweden) is exhausting, and he's frustrated with it. He has very little patience for other nations and avoids talking to them, and when possible he prefers to hang back while Denmark is sociable enough for the two of them. Overall, Norway is unhappy, reclusive, and worried as to what effect the current situation will have on his future.

Family relationships

He's fed up with Denmark, but he knows that his brother is trying to do his best, so he does what he can to support him. He's also keenly aware that he can't last on his own; without Denmark, he would be even weaker than he already is, so he has to stand by him. On a personal level, his relationship with Denmark is... complicated. And probably closer than it should be. Aside from Denmark, Norway cares deeply about Iceland, but at this point in time Norway has a lot that he needs to be occupied with, and the attention that he can devote to his little brother is limited. As for Sweden, Norway is sick of his shit. He's angry with him, and also a bit afraid of him, because Sweden is a very real threat. But under everything, Norway is aware that under other circumstances, maybe their relationship could have been different.

Other relationships

Norway's personal interests in other nations at this time are limited. He will be polite to his allies (see the list here for nations that were more or less on the same side at this time) but not overly warm, because it isn't in his nature to be so. He does have some admiration of (and attraction to) the Netherlands, but isn't likely to voice it or act on it. He's more interested in/attracted to women than he is to men, but isn't likely to act on anything either way.
